Roman festival with camp of the 4th Vindeliker cohort
This year's RömerTage will take place in the RömerWelt Rheinbrohl on the first weekend in May. In the outdoor area of the adventure museum, the 4th Vindeliker cohort shows the Roman military life of the auxiliary soldiers stationed on the Limes in the 2nd century AD. In their fully equipped warehouse, they give visitors insight and wide-ranging information on the many questions that arise: What is an auxiliary? Why did you join the military? What was part of the training?
How much was the pay? What career opportunities were there? What equipment did an auxiliary carry compared to a legionnaire? What was there to eat? What did a normal working day look like for the auxiliary troops?
The Poppaea family depicts a family of prefects from the imperial entourage in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD. For over 25 years they have been dealing with the representation of Roman antiquity around the first and second centuries AD.
They then use their knowledge to produce clothing, equipment and everyday items. This results in a wide range of topics, which are represented by the members of the family. It ranges from consecration ceremonies, jewelry and hairstyle production as well as body care, cosmetics and Roman cuisine.
