Once upon a time, there was a man named Ole Kirk Kristiansen who lived in a small town called Billund in Denmark. Ole built his own business as a carpenter and made furniture. As the years passed, he decided to use his craft to make something different, and so the story began...

1932 Ole organised a competition among his employees to find a name for the company. He won the competition himself with the name LEGO.
1934 The LEGO® brick as we know it was invented and patented.
1958 The LEGO® brick as we know it was invented and patented.

LEGO® employees were often interrupted by visitors who wanted to see what could be built with LEGO bricks. One day, someone suggested, ‘Why don't we build a park where people can build with LEGO bricks?’ LEGOLAND® was born!
